El-Zahra Islamic Center was founded by the El-Zahra Education Foundation Inc. to serve the community by providing various learning opportunities in regard to our faith and tradition for all people, regardless of gender, age, culture or background. We believe that Islamic Education, established by the Qur’an and the teachings and practice of the beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), are essential tools to navigate this life and attain the best of this life and the next. For these reasons we offer several services including….
- Hidaya Saturday School – Offering Islamic Studies, Quran, Arabic, Lunch and Recess for children ages 3-17 to learn about their faith and connect with other Muslims every Saturday during the school year.
- Hidaya Sunday School – Offering Islamic Studies, Quran, Arabic, Lunch and Recess for children ages 3-17 to learn about their faith and connect with other Muslims every Sunday during the school year.
- Quran Academy – Tuesdays and Fridays Quran Class for Memorization of Surahs and learning to read Quran
- Hadith Class – Weekly Hadith class with Shaykh Moutaz Charaf after Fajr Prayer on Saturdays where he unpacks the teachings and practices of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that we can connect with and implement.
- Tafseer Class – Weekly Tafseer class with Shaykh Moutaz Charaf after Fajr Prayer on Sundays where he unpacks the meaning of certain verses of the Qur’an in English so we can ponder them and take lessons for our lives.
- Fajr & Breakfast Saturdays – A chance to pray and break bread together after a short reflection by the Imam each Saturday after Fajr. Occasionally followed by hikes, a trip to the park, or special Family Fajr gatherings for children to also join in the fun.
- Adult Arabic Classes – A chance to learn beginner and intermediate Arabic once a week offered throughout the year.
- Muslim Connect – A chance for couples and singles 18+ to connect in faith and friendship, and connect for social, spiritual and professional growth, and share a delicious meal.
- Family Night of Remembrance – A chance for the family to come together at the Masjid every other Friday to recite Quran, Adhkar and Dua, and to pray together followed by dinner.
- El-Zahra Youth Programs – Activities for Brothers and Sisters ages 13-17 to come together to learn about their faith Halaqah style followed by prayer and some time for games, sports, food and other activities to bond! (Certain Activities and Halaqas are separated by gender or offered on alternate dates and times throughout the year.)
