The Elzahra Islamic Center is a community center that not only provides a space for prayer, but also for activities and community events. Through our mosque, we not only strive to help others to connect and improve their relationship with their Creator, but we also wish to facilitate relationships between families, neighbors and individuals to foster growth, friendship and understanding.
On the main floor of our center we have a beautiful entrance into a grand prayer hall offering space for brothers and sisters to pray the five daily prayers and Jummah. The interior has a beautiful and warm architectural design has high ceilings with a gorgeous wood framing that eloquently compliments our gold and maroon carpets. The room is equipped with ceiling fans, ample lights, that can be dimmed, and brand new central air. We have benches and chairs for the elderly, and beautifully designed window frames with beautifully decorated curtains with Islamic inscriptions. A stage at the front serves as additional prayer space and a beautiful setting for larger community programs featuring guest speakers and Quranic reciters. A hand made wooden Mimbar sits on the stage for the Imam to deliver the Friday Khutba (sermon). This wonderful space can easily accommodate 300 people.
In addition to our beautiful Musallah (prayer space), we also have a wonderful banquet hall downstairs that serves as a space for various religious and community events including Interfaith Dinners, Family Nights, Youth Game Nights, Aqiqahs, Nikahs, Wedding Celebrations, Iftars, Movie Nights and more! This space, beautifully designed by Robert So, features exquisite molding on the ceilings and windows, customized archways, gorgeous chandeliers and and custom drapery. The floor features crema marfil tiles with a dark emperador carpet design, and three custom medallions sit in the center. With a stage in the front, a high quality projector screen, central air and a brand new audio system, this hall is perfect for a variety of events. A brand new restaurant grade kitchen helps us match the highest quality food to this stunning hall. This wonderful space can easily accommodate 160 people for all sorts of activities.
The center also has new bathrooms, a wudu space for brothers and sisters, several classrooms, a game room, an administrative office and an office for the Imam. These spaces allow us to provide weekend school services and other small group gatherings for recreational activities like ping pong and billiards, babysitting and game nights!
Outside the masjid, in the back, we have designated a beautifully enclosed space for picnics and other community events with a grand custom fountain as the backdrop. This area features pristine landscaping and custom picnic tables made of wood that can easily seat 150 people. Bordered by several trees and a fence, it is the perfect space for family gatherings and outdoor barbecues!
To add to our outdoor seating, we also constructed a large pavilion with a concrete base that can sit 100 people comfortably. With a mosque dome on top, this shaded area allows for outdoor gatherings in a variety of weather conditions, and offers lighting to allow for evening gatherings as well as during the day.
Our masjid has ample parking in our newly restored and renovated parking lot. The whole center is surrounded by plenty of greenery and is enclosed by a fence and newly planted trees.
We are very blessed to have found such a beautiful property in the heart of Midland Park, New Jersey. And in the few years we have been open, we continue to expand and renovate the property to help us create a fully functional community center and masjid that can serve the growing Muslim population in Bergen County and beyond, and to be a center of education, inspiration and hope to our friends and neighbors of all faiths.
